Staz — Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Staz (“Staz”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit or interact with our website or use our cloud backup services (the “Service”). This policy is written so you can update the website address later; for now no URL is included.

Quick summary

  • Staz is a cloud backup provider offering automatic, encrypted backups, cold storage and restore functionality designed for individuals and businesses.

  • We collect information you provide (account, billing, support), information about your devices and usage (technical and log data), and information from third parties (payment processors, analytics).

  • We use personal data to deliver and improve the Service, process payments, secure the platform, and communicate with you.

  • We share data only with service providers required to operate the Service (hosting, storage, payments, analytics) and when required by law.

  • You have rights to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data where applicable under local law (GDPR/CCPA-style rights summarized below).

1. Information we collect

A. Information you provide directly

  • Account registration data: name, email, username, password.

  • Billing & payment information: billing address and payment transaction data (note: full card numbers are processed and stored by our payment processor, not by Staz).

  • Support and communications: messages you send to support, survey responses, and other content you submit.

B. Automatically collected information

  • Device & technical data: IP address, operating system, device identifiers, browser user agent, screen resolution.

  • Usage data: pages visited, feature usage, installation and backup logs, errors and crash reports needed to operate and troubleshoot the backup client.

C. Backup content metadata

  • Metadata about backed-up files (file names, sizes, timestamps, file types) required to index, deduplicate, and restore data. Note: we store and process metadata to provide backup, restore, versioning and searching functionality.

2. How we use information

We use collected data to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Staz Service (backup, restore, versioning, cold storage).

  • Process transactions and manage subscriptions and refunds.

  • Authenticate and manage user accounts, send service notices, security alerts, and transactional emails.

  • Diagnose and fix technical issues, analyze service performance, and prevent fraud or abuse.

  • Personalize certain in-product messages and administrative communications (where you’ve consented).

We rely on: (a) performance of a contract (to deliver the Service), (b) legitimate interests (service security, fraud prevention, product improvements), and (c) consent where required (marketing communications).

3. Encryption, security & storage

  • Staz encrypts files before transfer and stores backups on encrypted servers; the Service uses industry-standard transport protections (SSL/TLS) and 256-bit AES encryption for stored data.

  • We operate our backup storage on cloud infrastructure and use reputable cloud infrastructure providers to host customer backups. (Staz advertises use of Amazon Web Services / AWS for storage).

  • Access controls, internal security practices, and periodic technical assessments are used to protect personal data. However, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure; we will notify affected users and regulators as required by law in the event of a breach.

4. Cookies, analytics & tracking

  • We (and our service providers) use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to operate the website, analyze traffic and product usage, and to improve the Service.

  • Analytics providers may collect information about your visits and actions. You can control cookies through your browser settings and available opt-out tools from third-party analytics providers.

5. Third parties, processors & disclosures

We share personal data with the following categories of third parties as necessary to provide the Service:

  • Cloud/storage providers (e.g., AWS) for storing backups and cold storage.

  • Payment processors for subscription billing and payment authorization.

  • Hosting, email delivery, analytics, and monitoring providers to operate and improve the Service.

  • Legal and safety: when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect Staz’s rights, property or safety.

We require processors to maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards and to use data only to provide contracted services.

6. Cold storage, lifetime storage & restore

Staz offers options such as cold storage for archival (lower-cost, infrequent-access storage) and unlimited lifetime storage plans for certain files as described in product documentation. Restores and archival retrievals may have different timelines and costs; Staz documents and displays those options in the product UI.

7. Retention

  • We retain account and transactional data as long as you have an active account and thereafter for the period necessary to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations or to resolve disputes.

  • Backup contents and metadata are retained according to the plan you select (active plans, archived/“cold” selections, or after account deletion as described in product settings). If you request deletion of your account and backed-up data, we will delete backups subject to any legal or contractual retention obligations and any processing time required for secure deletion.

8. Your rights & choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.

  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Request deletion of personal data (subject to retention obligations).

  • Export/port your personal data in a commonly used machine-readable format.

  • Object to or restrict certain processing (including direct marketing).

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise rights, contact us at the address below. We may require identity verification before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

9. Children’s privacy

The Staz Service is not directed at children under 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete it.

10. International transfers

Customer data may be stored and processed in countries other than your country of residence (for example, on cloud infrastructure providers’ global data centers). When we transfer data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards (contractual protections, standard contractual clauses, or other lawful mechanisms) as required by applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices or legal requirements. We will post the updated policy with a revised “Effective date.” Material changes will be highlighted or otherwise communicated where required by law.
